Limpopo Wildlife
Eco College
Limpopo Wildlife Eco College upholds the highest standards for its Eco-tourism, Conservation, and Wildlife programs, setting rigorous expectations for both its participants and educators. Our programs not only require significant dedication from students but also demand lecturers to design and deliver education that aligns with the National curriculum and complies with industry and professional standards.
Upon enrollment, students embark on an immersive educational journey that challenges their preconceptions, disrupts their everyday routines, and introduces them to novel and unconventional modes of thinking. Their participation in these programs equips them to take the next steps in their careers and personal lives, empowering them to exhibit leadership within the Academy, their classes, and among their peers. Most importantly, they return to their own communities armed with fresh ideas, newfound skills, and an enhanced ability to address the pressing environmental challenges that confront Africa.
Nature Guiding | Safari Ranger
The terms “nature guide” or “field guide” are often mistaken for “game ranger” and “tourist guide.” A game ranger is responsible for managing specific areas where wild animals roam, while a tourist guide covers a wide range of areas across the entire country, offering guidance to tourists in cities, museums, battlefields, and various points of interest, with a primary focus on the man-made environment and cultural-historical aspects.
On the other hand, a Nature or Safari Guide leads people into natural environments. This form of guiding encompasses more than just walking trails; it can also include activities such as vehicle drives, horseback safaris, canoeing, and other outdoor adventures. Nature guides have a keen interest in ecology and nature. However, the term “Ranger” is deeply entrenched in the tourism guiding industry and is unlikely to change. Therefore, by obtaining this qualification and registering as a Nature Guide, you can expect to be employed as a Ranger at game reserves, where you’ll have the exciting role of entertaining tourists and guiding them to observe Africa’s iconic Big 5: leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
Tracking
Throughout history, humanity has honed its survival skills within the natural world. Man’s quest for effective hunting led to the development of tracking expertise. In the realm of Eco Tourism, the art of tracking has evolved, introducing more sophisticated methods for locating elusive game like lions, leopards, and other highly sought-after species.
Tracking has transcended mere artistry; it has become a science with practical applications across various domains, including Nature Conservation, Eco-tourism, Environmental Education, Scientific Research, combating poaching, facilitating nature research initiatives, and trophy location.
Nonetheless, one cannot truly become a tracker through mere reading or short courses. These are essential starting points, but real mastery requires hands-on experience and an expanding knowledge of the wilderness. Practical thinking and application are key elements in this journey.
Becoming a proficient tracker demands practical experience, and even the most seasoned tracker remains open to continuous discovery and learning. Your tracking skills not only enrich your understanding of nature but also heighten your overall enjoyment of the natural world.
Dangerous Game Guide| Trails Guide
View Potentially Dangerous Animals | For the man in the bush, more important than having a sound knowledge of firearms, is having an intimate knowledge of the behaviour of dangerous game species. It is far better to avoid a dangerous situation than have to face the consequences of a confrontation. To view potentially dangerous animals on foot, a hands-on practical course, where Africa’s dangerous game are tracked down and approach, is most practical. Learn the golden rules, animal behaviour, anatomy and danger signs / displays and how to let your clients have an unforgettable safe experience. Also learn and “Show your Competence through superior knowledge rather than firepower” but just in case you do need it……Advance Weapon Handling for Guiding on Heavy Calibre Rifles (375, 458, 416). Learn how to use your big bore rifle fast and accurate, under pressure and at short distances with the correct shot placement to “drop” charging dangerous game. You also qualify for the National Competency Certificate on Act 60 of 2000 on Use of a Rifle.
Field Ranger | Anti-Poaching Ranger
Game Rangers and Field Rangers serve as the primary custodians of the world’s most treasured natural and cultural protected environments. Field Rangers undertake intricate and profoundly significant duties, preserving the essential components of our global natural and cultural heritage.
If you’re seeking a career filled with adventure, our course provides an excellent foundation for a successful journey within the dynamic private Game Reserve sector. It’s also an ideal pathway for those aspiring to secure positions within Provincial or National Parks as Wildlife Field Rangers.
Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to further your specialization by enrolling in our Anti-Poaching Ranger Course. This advanced program encompasses Tactical Combat Techniques, Combat Tracking, Security, Critical Incidents, and Recovery (SCIR), paving the way to become an Anti-Poaching Ranger or, more precisely, a Field Ranger specializing in Law Enforcement and Armed Response.
In the third year of the program, you’ll embark on the Park Ranger – Game Ranger track, which focuses on Area Integrity Management. This comprehensive training includes theoretical coursework, practical exercises, and real-world experiences, all designed to prepare you to lead Ranger Teams and effectively oversee the preservation of wildlife in Protected Areas, Game Farms, Nature Reserves, Provincial and National Parks across Africa.

I’m so glad I decided to study at Limpopo Wildlife Eco College. I started as a stranger and now became part of the family. Craig and Zeriah went above and beyond my expectations. I learnt so much and gained tons of valuable experience. I highly recommend any student wanting to become a Professional Hunter or Nature Guide to do the Nature Career Course. You won’t regret it!

Ek beveel Limpopo Wildlife Eco College aan vir enige iemand wat ‘n Professionele Beroeps Jagter of Natuurgids wil word. Jy sal meer leer as die meeste mense wat al jare in die bedryf werk.
